Continuous Training Center

The Continuous Training Center at University “Fas S. Noli”, Korçë (UNIKO) started its activity in the academic year 2013-2014 and has operated with two Centers of Excellence, respectively in the Faculty of Education and Philology and in the Faculty of Natural and Human Sciences accredited by the Ministry of Education. These two centers have been organized about the in-service teachers training in regular sessions throughout the year in the Korçë region and beyond. The organization of trainings is carried out, based on the Instruction no.11, dated on 17.05.2013 of MES and Instruction no. 26, dated on 15.08.2014 of MES, for the professional development of the educational staff. These centers conducted the training activity until February 2015, and then their reorganization and re-accreditation was done by MES order. During this period, these two training centers at UNIKO conducted the following trainings: -In the academic year 2013-2014, 736 teachers were trained and certified at the Center of Excellence at the Faculty of Education and Philology, with 2580 credits in total. -In the academic year 2014-2015, 534 teachers were trained and certified, with 1394 credits in total. -In the Faculty of Natural and Human Sciences, during the period 2013-2015, 207 teachers were trained and certified, with 786 credits in total. The fee for 1 training credit is set by decision of the Administration Board and is 1000 ALL. During the years 2013-2015 from both Centers of Excellence have been trained and certified 1477 teachers in total. About 30 lecturers from both faculties are involved in the teacher training process. The center has in its database all the data of the trained and certified teachers, the respective modules and lecturers who have completed the trainings, the training period and the monetary value paid in the university account. During the year 2015-2016, the Center of Excellence has interrupted the normal process of training and qualification of teachers, based on Order 421, dated on 04.11.2015 of MES, according to which the accredited training agencies would not organize trainings with educational staff until the announcement of the identified needs for professional development for each teacher, school and educational unit. The needs would be announced by MES and EDI (Education Development Institute), after the process of testing teachers nationwide, regarding their professional development. With the announcement of interest for training for educational staff in pre-university education for the period 2017-2021, this center applied to EDI as a single structure at the institutional level, with existing modules and new modules in accordance with the training needs identified by MESY, in May 2017. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth accredited the Continuous Training Center, University “Fan S. Noli” with Decision no. 26, dated on 19.12.2017, for a 4-years period, until December 2021, for 34 training modules and 1 program that includes 5 modules, so 39 modules in total. From February 2018, the Continuous Training Center started regular training sessions, based on the request of teachers interested in their professional development. The offer given to interested teachers and their registration is done online through the EDI portal: The portal is accessed simultaneously by the teacher who has been trained. The Training Center and EDI store data about: the module that has been trained, the training period, the points earned and the certification. For the academic year 2018 -2019, the Center continues regular training sessions, in accordance with the MESY Instruction on the activity of Training Centers for in-service teachers. The Continuous Training Center has its headquarters near the new campus at the Rectorate of the University “Fan S. Noli” on the second floor, with a modern infrastructure for teacher training, equipped with a rich didactic base of modern technology, thanks also to the International TEAVET Project, a project realized within the Erasmus+ Program. The center has a coordinator (responsible person), lecturer, as well as lecturers (qualified with teaching experience), from the departments of the Faculty of Education and Philology and the Faculty of Natural and Human Sciences. As part of joint projects, the Continuous Training Center has implemented a number of training projects. In collaboration with Save the Children, MEDPAK and Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo, during the period March - May 2015, the Center was selected to conduct training sessions in 7 regions of Albania, with teachers of pre-university education in the field of inclusive education and learning difficulties, in schools covered by these projects. During this period 420 teachers were trained and certified, respectively 60 teachers for each region: Korçë, Gjirokastër, Durrës, Vlorë, Elbasan, Peshkopi, Burrel. During the period September 2015 - April 2016, in cooperation with MEDPAK and World Vision, teachers’ trainings were conducted in several regions, respectively: Tropojë, Kukës, Tiranë, Vlorë, Korçë, where about 220 teachers were trained and certified. During the period April-September 2016 through a MES project, in cooperation with Save the Children, Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo and MEDPAK, the training and certification of all assistant teachers in Albania was carried out, in accordance with Instruction no. 38, dated on 7.10.2014 of MES, as well as a part of the employees of the psycho-social service at RED/EOs. This project enabled the training of about 200 teachers and specialists, conducted in three regions: Vlorë, Elbasan and Tiranë. As part of the TEAVET Project, the Continuous Training Center has applied to EDI for two training modules, becoming part of the package with 16 training modules in all continuous education centers from each public university.
